Today a New House Bill Affecting Unemployment has been announced. Among the proposed changes there are now included the following interesting things:
The use of a Claimant’s SSN is now not authorized except under limited circumstances.
Claimants must now seek five job contacts each week.
Minor changes to the process for Judicial Review.
The Division may garnish credit card receipts or other third party payments of unpaid unemployment taxes.
Presentation of a Photo ID to receive benefits
Change to how seasonal workers may be qualified for unemployment benefits.
Of course, these proposed changes are the first step in what may be a long process. However, if past unemployment legislation is any indicator, this legislature will likely expedite any proposed changes.
